The Floriade Expo 2022 is in full swing. During this World Horticultural Exhibition, several product competitions will take place in which national and international participants compete in the hope of winning a coveted Floriade Award. Friday, April 29 was the 2nd competition round where there was a battle in the categories Chrysanthemum spray & santini, Cut cymbidium and Flowering houseplants.
With 98 domestic and foreign entries, the three categories were well represented. In the category Chrysanthemum spray & santini, the first prize went to nursery Gommans Flowers from Egchel, with their Chrysanthemum (Indicum Grp) spray 'Saba'.
Within the category Cut cymbidium, Special Orchids from Bergschenhoek won double prizes. They received a Floriade Award and the Floriade Excellent Award – the prize for the most outstanding product entry – for their Cymbidium large-flowered 'Cobra'. The professional jury spoke of a unique shade of color, very uniform flowers and a good branch occupancy.
Richplant from Naaldwijk won in the category Flowering houseplants. Their Curcuma alismatifolia 'Siam Splash' was praised by the jury for its beautiful flower and leaf drawing.
Did you know that the 'Siam Splash' and many other products of Richplant, such as the Jatropha Multifida and the Crossandra infundibuliformis 'Fortuna' are available in the GTC? From May 5th, you will also find an inspiring presentation in which you can admire the award-winning products from the 13 competitions.
